Review: Sarah is beautiful, with her blue eyes and blonde hair, but with one tiny problem - her not-so-tiny nose. Still, as long as she dodges her mom's pressure for her to get rhinoplasty done, she's fine, or at least, she was until Rock Conway entered and, well, rocked her world. Except her best friend, Kristen, falls for him too, and she wants Sarah's help in getting him, so what choice does she have but to agree?

One of the main things I really liked about FLAWLESS was how Lara Chapman explored some interesting themes about friendship, love, and especially beauty. When I first read the synopsis, I was worried that it would focus too much on Sarah's nose, but luckily, this was more of a background thing with her rather than a big issue in the story. It was nice to read about a character who wasn't completely perfect and gorgeous and did have some large appearance flaws, and even nicer to have her coming to terms with it as a sub-plot.

While I did like the lesson behind it, nothing about this book impressed me very much. The story had some promise but was largely not very original; two best friends falling for the same guy has been done before, and nothing new was brought to the table here. I also felt that the ending was just far too convenient for Sarah and didn't give me a particularly satisfactory resolution.

I know this review has sounded fairly critical, so I want to emphasize that I did enjoy reading this. FLAWLESS was a decent, light read with some good lessons behind it, especially about beauty and friendship, even if the plot was a little unoriginal and the ending not too well-executed. I would still recommend this book to anyone who wants something with more substance than fluff without becoming a heavy read.

I received a free copy of this book from the publisher for review. This in no way affected my review.

Thanks for being honest. I like that a lot. 3 stars is still a "good" rating and I totally get what you mean by "more substance".
Great review!

Sometimes a book is "good" and there really isn't a whole lot more you can say about it-- these for me are the hardest reviews, because it's not that I didn't like them, it's just that they weren't very memorable, and nothing stood out about them...

To be honest, I think I'd rather read a book I couldn't stand and then rant about it, rather than read a so-so book and then try to think of something to say about it! Oh well lol, thank you very much for the honest review :)
