New Cover: Shatter Me

Here is the original cover of Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi:

and the new cover:

I really like the original cover, with the cool exploding glass and neat typography, but I LOVE the new cover. The iridescent eye surrounded by the blended colors and shadowy plants is incredibly cool, and all these gorgeous colors make me want to run out and buy this new copy.

What do you think of the new cover? Which do you like better?

I think the new cover looks cool, but I really don't know which one I like better.

I really like both covers :) I haven't actually read the book yet!

I actually like both covers, but I have to be the cog in the wheel here. It seems to be going from one trend--girl in pretty dress--to another trend--close-up of unusual eyeball. I'm kind of getting tired of this. Publishers are going to for "eye-catching images", that all end up looking the same, instead of *thinking* about the story is *about* and using an image that reflects the *story*. Yes, call me the nay-sayer if you must...

I love both covers, although especially the second one because of all the intricate detail. However, I agree with you, Kat - they are still both covers that follow trends which is kind of annoying. I tend to dislike really beautiful covers when they don't reflect the story contained inside.

We prefer the new cover IMMENSELY, but ditto what Kat said about the eyeball trend and Gracie's preference for covers reflecting the stories within.

I actually, when looking at the cover, see a lot of little details that go back to the book.
I love the new cover,
but I won't by the series in physical form unless Shatter Me is re-released with the new covers in Hardcover.
I'm being impossible with it but I just love having a HARDCOVER because they don't get all beat up.
